NEW TIREFLYS® SPOKE SPECIES HIT STORE SHELVES IN JANUARY 07

Creepy, crawly with a clip for your spokes, the new Tireflys® Spoke Spider™ has cast its web on retailers nationwide. The Spoke Spider™ and the Spoke Butterfly® are the first in a family of Spoke Species™ Tireflys® is introducing to the market in 2007. Each species is created around a motion activated light that is designed to illuminate when the bicycle wheel spins. The lights, illuminated in a bright red or blue work in excellent contrast to the colors of the species bodies which come in black and silver for the spider and violet and yellow for the butterfly.

The innovative team of product designers responsible for the tremendously successful launch of the Tireflys® Rocket, Skull, Flower and Star came together again to create this new family. Influenced by the idea that bike riding can build a child’s appreciation for nature, the team set out to capture what you might see on a bike path and gave it a spin. The Spoke Spider™ clings to the wheel as if spinning a web and the butterfly’s wings extend in flight making a natural transition from nature to toy. Each piece is easy to fasten on and off, which was a priority for the creative team. “We wanted to make sure that a child could take the spider or butterfly along for the ride and just as easily take it off and carry it around for other adventures,” says Tireflys® owner, Russell Rothan. “We want these products to spark imagination and that doesn’t stop when the bike ride is over,” Rothan adds.

For children, the lure of lights for your wheels is fun. For parents, there is an added safety function. The lights add increased nighttime visibility for riders, and raises awareness to motorists that they may be sharing the road.
